I use up-to-date structured and semi-structured evaluation tools to quantify and describe each client’s areas of functional concern. These include the type, severity, and quality of mental disorder. Quite often, my testing clients are teenagers and adults who need to clarify any areas of behavioral, academic, substance use, and personality disorders concerns. For example, if there is a clinical question of neuropsychological functioning, along with questions of cognitive and functioning and education level, one or more tests in that domain would be added to the basic standard protocol. After an initial clinical interview, potential testing clients are provided with a brief report, detailing initial areas of clinical interest along with an itemized estimate of the costs of the testing protocol. If approval is obtained, with or without adjustments to the scope of the testing, the sessions are conducted and a written report is completed and provided.
